Get ready to be enchanted by our chaotic rabbit kids from RABBIT ACADEMY with daily broadcasts starting March 27, 2026, at 6 p.m. on KiKA and on KiKA Player. In 52 x 11minute episodes, you can accompany city rabbits Max, Kela, and Chester on their adventures at a magical boarding school deep in the forest. These action-packed and emotional stories were created in co-production with SERU Animation, 2 Minutes (France) and FormArt (Hungary), in collaboration with SWR, KiKA, NDR, HR, and funded by MFG, nordmedia, MEDIA – Creative Europe, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, CNC and Hungarian Film Incentive. The series was directed by Emilie Rimetz and produced by Akkord Film (Dirk Beinhold, Valentin Greulich). It is inspired by the classic German children’s book by Albert Sixtus and Fritz Koch-Gotha, and the highly successful 3D-animated films RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG and RABBIT ACADEMY – MISSION EGGPOSSIBLE.

The series RABBIT ACADEMY expands this universe with a fresh perspective: inspired by the films but faster, cooler, and in cartoonish 2D. We can‘t wait for the world to watch our show!

A great cinema moment on our way to a final movie: The film team happily screened the first final shots of our film GUARDIAN RABBITS – THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN EGG at Hamburg Savoy Cinema. A lovely moment that captures the joy of collaborating on a truly special project with arx anima and SERU Animation.

Business insiders discovered rabbits from our upcoming series RABBIT ACADEMY during MipCom in Cannes! Eyewitnesses sighted them during the world’s biggest entertainment trade fair at the stand of international distributor Global Constellation from where they’re expected to hop onto screens worldwide. We’re excited about the strong presence!

In their general meeting last week in Annecy, the members of Animation in Europe (European federation of animation producers organizations) confirmed Akkord Film’s CEO Dirk Beinhold as Vice Chairman. The new board for the next two years represents a diversity of members, including the three other vice Chairpersons, Moe Honan (Moetion Film – Ireland), Pablo Jordi (Pikkukala – Finland), and Ivan Agenjo (Peekaboo Animation – Spain). Philippe Alessandri (Watch Next Media – France) continues as Chairman.

With its call for more European animation productions on streaming platforms, Animation in Europe caused quite a stir in the media during this year’s MIFA, as well as in Kidscreen, C21Media, Cartoon Brew and many more publications.

Animation in Europe (founded in 2016) additionally announced the new membership of Estonia, Greece, and Portugal, bringing its total to 20 European member countries (including the UK).

With its six tv appearances on German television over Easter this year and the streaming availability on Amazon Prime, our film Rabbit School – Guardians of the Golden Egg was a huge success.

And of course, our rabbits are passionate travelers and also celebrated Easter with Rabbit Academy – Mission Eggpossible in other European countries. In Portugal, „Escola de Coelhos – Missão ovo dourado“ is No. 4, just like in  Greece. And in Rumania and again in Austria, the film made it into the top 10.

With the re-release of Rabbit School – Guardians of the Golden Egg (2017) and Rabbit Academy – Mission Eggpossible (2022) in over 200 German cinemas Max and his friends have broken the incredible record of over half a million admissions in Germany. Including Austria and Switzerland our rabbits accumulated a total of about 640.000 admissions.

Rabbit power let’s go! While 2023 is the year of the rabbit in Chinese culture, it’s rabbit time in German cinemas over Easter with a re-run of our film Rabbit Academy – Mission Eggpossible. And in addition to that, Max and his friends have an incredible six TV appearances with Rabbit Academy – Guardians of the Golden Egg on German tv!

And the Oscar goes to…

In an internal Akkord Oscar betting game, our team speculated on who would win one of the coveted Academy Awards®. Especially this year it has been very exciting to see a German film win so many Oscars. And not just for fun: like last year, Akkord Film donated ten times the entire prize money to the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
