Audience Award at Zurich Film Festival goes to RABBIT SCHOOL

Our animated feature RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG was the opening film of the children’s program at this year’s Zurich Film Festival – and went on to win the Audience Award! After the screening, director Ute von Münchow-Pohl answered questions from the audience and lead voice-actor Noah Levi (winner of German TV talent show “The Voice Kids”) gave a live musical performance and gave autographs. RAVEN THE LITTLE RASCAL is back! Starting August 31st, new episodes of the series can be seen on the German TV channel KiKA every day at 6:35 p.m. Leading up to this, reruns of the episodes originally broadcast in December 2016 will be aired from August 5th – August 30th (6:35 p.m.). You will also be able to buy the series on DVD from Universum Kids.

Akkord Film is proud to be one of nine German production companies to receive slate funding from MEDIA Creative Europe for its forthcoming animation projects. Creative Europe will be providing 200.000€ for the development of the animated features PETRONELLA THE APPLEWITCH and THE HEINZELS and the TV-Series RABBIT SCHOOL, based on the successful cinematic feature of the same name.

We are proud to announce that RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG won the Children Media Award “”White Elephant”, awarded by the Munich Media Club at this year’s Munich Filmfest! The Giffoni Film Festival, one of the most prestigious children’s film festivals in the world, will be screening RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG. The Italian festival will take place from July 14th-21st, 2017 and this year’s theme is “Into the Magic” – we’re happy and proud to take part! Furthermore, the Zurich Film Festival (September 28th – October 8th 2017) has selected RABBIT SCHOOL to be screened as part of the section “ZFF for Kids” which is organized in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF.

The Munich Film Festival is around the corner, and along with it, the Munich Media Club will award outstanding children’s films with the “The White Elephant” Award. The prestigious prize exists since the year 2000, and we are happy to announce that RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG is amongst the nominees this year. We are looking forward to the awards ceremony on June 25th.

For his performance as Mr. Fritz in RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG Friedrich von Thun is nominated for the German Voice Actor Award. He and the two other nominees Anja Kling and Alexandra Maria Lara will be present at the award-ceremony at the Festival of Animated Film in Stuttgart on the 4th of May. Fingers crossed!

RABBIT SCHOOL takes part in the project “Cinema for Refugees” by The German Film Academy, a series of free movie screenings for refugee children and teens. RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG was shown in two cinema halls at Cinestar Potsdamer Platz during Easter holidays. We are honored to be part of this amazing project.

Akkord Film and publisher Boje (part of Bastei Lübbe AG) are planning to enchant audiences through screens big and small with adaptations of best-selling kids’ book series Petronella the Apple Witch. The rights deal was secured at Berlin Film Festival, with Akkord announcing its intent to develop both a feature film and TV series. The cooperation was instigated by Hamburg-based producer Maite Woköck, who is set to produce alongside Akkord. Screenwriter Katja Grübel (RABBIT SCHOOL) is already working on the FFA funded cinema adaption of the books by Sabine Städing. For the full press release see here.

The audience at Brussels Animation Film Festival (more information), one of the biggest European festivals for animated film (32,000 visitors in 2017), has chosen their favorite movies -and the Audience Award for Best Animated Feature Film for Children goes to L’ECOLE DES LAPINS (french title of RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG). Another audience award comes from the Les Toiles Filantes Festival in Pessac (more information).

„Just because a gang is cool, it doesn’t replace true friends“ – a lesson for life that the Youth Film Jury of the Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung (German Film and Media Assessment) highlighted in our movie RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG. The jury consisting of 10-14-year old film critics awarded the movie with four out of five stars.

A sneak preview of RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG was presented at the Cartoon Movie conference 2017. More than a hundred investors, distributors, producers, and journalists attended the presentation in Bordeaux hosted by producer Dirk Beinhold, French distributor Marc Bonny of Gebeka and international distributor Tania Pinto De Cunha of Sola Media.

Last weekend RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG celebrated its premieres in Cologne and Munich, a great warm-up for the official start in German and Austrian cinemas on March 16th!

Noah Levi, the German voice of our rabbit hero Max in RABBIT SCHOOL, is performing the main title song “Home sweet home”. The music video including many original film scenes is now online. Video

On February 11th, our animated feature film RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG had its very first public screening. The Berlin Film Festival, where our film was in competition in the kids section, Generation K+, is the perfect setting for this great premiere. Our new animated movie RABBIT SCHOOL – GUARDIANS OF THE GOLDEN EGG will celebrate its world premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival 2017. Our courageous bunny protagonists will hop across screens at the competition Generation KPlus. In the words of Berlinale festival managers: “This lovingly drawn German animation film, based on the 1924 classic, is a pure delight buoyed by imagination and brisk pacing and graced and graced with the voices of Senta Berger, Friedrich von Thun, Jule Böwe and Noah Levi.” Watch out teaser to get in the mood.

Louis Hofmann, the German voice of Raven the Little Rascal in our series, will be honored as a EUROPEAN SHOOTING STAR 2017 at the Berlin International Film Festival this February. The prize is awarded anually to a distinguished selection of Europe’s outstanding up-and-coming talents. We are very happy and congratulate Louis sincerely!

Starting Dec 1st 2016, cheeky Raven will fly onto TV screens daily at 6:35 pm on Germany’s leading children’s channel, KiKA. The 26×12′ adventures of Raven and his friends were realized in co-production with SWR, NDR & ARD in cooperation with 2Minutes, France. Head writers Katja Grübel and Jan Strathmann led the writers team. The series was directed by Josselin Ronse, music composed by Alex Komlew. There will be 26 more episodes in 2017.

Our next big-screen advanture, RABBIT SCHOOL (3D/CGI-animated), will arrive in German cinemas in March 2017. Smart urban rabbit boy Max can’t believe his eyes when he crash-lands after a failed airplane stunt. He finds himself in the middle of an old-fashioned Easter rabbit school that is surrounded by a clever fox family scheming to take over Easter. Raven the Little Rascal will be racing to Toronto for screenings of his second movie “Raven the Little Rascal – The Big Race” with four screenings set throughout April at the prestigious TIFF Kids International Film Festival in Toronto. TIFF Kids is one of the world’s largest and most significant children’s film festivals.

After celebrating his international premiere at the Giffoni Film Festival (July 17th to 26th 2015) and completing his final training session at the Fünf Seen Festival (July 29th to August 8th 2015), the great starting signal has sounded: Since August 20th, Little Raven and his friends are racing through cinemas all across Germany. But Raven wouldn’t be Raven if he hadn’t already set his mind on his next mission: a race around the entire world! He will be giving his Asian premiere at the Busan International Film Festival (October 1st to 10th 2015). And the Festival Augenblick (November 10th to 27th 2015) will be screening the film in several towns in Alsace, France. Raven is “surer than sure” that he will thrill old and new fans around the globe.

After the acclaimed festival premiere at Stuttgart’s ITFS in May, Raven’s big new adventure will be screened at Filmfest Munich (June 25th to July 4th 2015) and at the International Film Festival Emden-Norderney (June 3rd to 10th 2015). Little Raven and his friends look forward to audience members of all ages. Sola Media is handling world sales.

The May 9th world premiere of cheeky little Raven’s new big-screen adventure is one of the highlights at this year’s Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. In the presence of directors Ute von Münchow-Pohl and Sandor Jesse, key funder MFG and main broadcast partner SWR will celebrate with the team and the young audience at the center of Germany’s biggest industry events APD and FMX. Finally, cheeky little Raven is back! His great new adventure RAVEN THE LITTLE RASCAL – THE BIG RACE will be released in Germany by Universum Film. The creative team – director Ute von Münchow-Pohl, co-director Sandor Jesse, script writer Katja Grübel and composer Alex Komlew – has teamed up again to bring the fun and exciting world of Raven and his friends to live. World sales is handled by Sola Media.
